Daisy Girl Scouts is a program designed for girls in Kindergarten-1st grade, or ages 5-7 years old.
Named after the founder of the Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Lowe, (whose nickname was Daisy), a group is formed by usually a leader, some girls, and a lot of help from a regional Girl Scout Office.
Girl Scout Daisies meet in groups with adult leaders. They go on trips, learn about nature and science, and explore the arts and their communities. Girl Scout Daisies can also earn Learning Petals and receive participation patches.
Sample Activities for Girl Scout Daisies
- Arts and crafts projects like finger-painting murals and making colorful barrettes and paper-bag puppets
- Trips to pick pumpkins and apples
- Camping and hiking with their family
- Planning a picnic and making snacks
- Planting a community garden
- Earning patches for activities like reading fun books or helping their community
Girl Scout Program Goals for Daisy Aged Girls
According to the Girl Scout Website, "the Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment. The Girl Scout program is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law and four fundamental goals that encourage girls to:
- Develop to their full potential.
- Relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect.
- Develop a meaningful set of values to guide their actions and to provide for sound decision-making.
- Contribute to the improvement of society."

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
-- Margaret Mead
